Volunteer with us

Volunteering for the festival is a great way to support us as we really couldn’t run any of our events without you. It’s a great chance to meet new people and be part of the festival. We have several positions available for volunteers to support us, not only over the festival weekend but also for our fundraising concerts across the year. Tasks could involve general

stewarding, assisting with the ticket collection desk, moving stage and sound equipment, running the info desk, or even helping organise the limited parking!

Simon Hall - Volunteer Testimonial

“Arriving at the Colston Hall to volunteer at the Bristol Jazz and Blues Festival, I was greeted with a buzzing atmosphere as musicians, technicians and audiences started to gather. It was my first visit to Colston Hall, and I hadn’t appreciated the size of the venue, or the possibilities for hectic scheduling – more often than not there were multiple gigs happening, providing multiple balls for venue staff to juggle. Despite the many ascents and descents of the central staircase and light jogs through the backstage warren, this was a personal highlight – as a volunteer you have the opportunity to sample all of the different acts, and see fantastic performances which you may not have otherwise encountered. The inclusivity of the festival is fantastic – audience members ranged from small children to seasoned jazz and blues listeners. The programme has a bit of everything, and the festival team are doing a great job of reaching beyond the festival week itself to inspire young people to get involved in music by organising workshops in schools. I heartily recommend volunteering to anyone who loves jazz and blues, or who is interested and wants to hear more!”
