We are so delighted to have Victoria and her band of amazing young jazz musicians at this year’s Festival.
She presented an outstanding performance at one of our Tonic Sessions last year, and she is quickly becoming of the UK favourite Jazz singer/songwriters.
For the first time since 2016, Bristol-based jazz vocalist and songwriter Victoria Klewin has a new release. The tongue-in-cheek ‘Loverboy’ is the title track of the first of several all-original EP’s due for release this year. She has noticeably matured and deepened as a writer in her absence. Perhaps because much of that time was spent writing and touring with other artists. Most notably Hannah Williams and The Affirmations (who were sampled by Jay-Z in 2017).
Her new music confidently displays a wide range of influences and meaningful lyrics, with echoes of classical piano and dreamy Mancini-esque soundscapes just begging for strings. Comparisons to the likes of Melody Gardot and Norah Jones would not be misplaced. Fans of instrumental jazz will be equally thrilled by her band, who approach the tunes with impressive style and a respectful, sympathetic touch.
