Pee Wee Ellis with Strings – ‘Ballads, Blues and Bossa’

Legendary saxophonist and composer Pee Wee Ellis realises a lifelong ambition to work on a collection of his favourite tunes from the Great American Songbook with a full string section providing a gorgeous carpet of harmony to accompany his unique improvising skills. With brand new arrangements by festival Artistic Director Denny Ilett, this will be a heartwarming and beautiful celebration of a golden era of composition alongside a rare opportunity to see “the architect of Funk” perform music that inspired him as a young man. Don’t miss this world premiere of the maestro Pee Wee Ellis with string orchestra!

Pee Wee will also be joining us for an in-conversation.
